Through children's interest , we have planned activites based on Bonfire night and currently Autumn. The children created a bonfire with paint which they used tooth brushes to create a striking effect of the flames. There was lots of talk about the bonfire including fireworks sounds, descriptions and relevant songs. This week we are looking at Hibernation and finishing off our wall display.  We have been following focused observations and combining active learning methods to enhance and assess the children's learning. The nursery 4 year olds have been attending Miss Reid 's primary  one class on Tuesdays for active learning sesions (which are planned with nursery staff beforehand). Within the context of numeracy and literacy the activities that all the children took part in were;( Data and analysis) matching objects and sorting,  an example can be seen from the photographs when the children decided to sort the teddies into colour groups with the aid of staff, matching leaf shapes,colours of leaves etc. Miss Reid has introduced counting concepts using natural materials such as stones, twigsand  leaves. This week in the primary one class the children used money -1ps , counting 1-10  in correspodance  to an activity  where the children were buying items from the  role play " Invergarry school cafe".
